LIBRARIAN’S DAY CELEBRATED
Krishnadas Shama, Goa State Central Library celebrated the Librarian’s Day to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan Father of Library Science at Multipurpose Hall, Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto – Panaji, Goa, recently.
The function started by offering flowers to the photo of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan. Director of Art and Culture Shri. Sagun Velip, Director, Shri. Ashok Parab, Curator – In-charge and Asst. State Librarian Smt. Sulaksha Kolmule, Dy. Director Admin Accounts Shri. Sarvottam Satardekar, Assistant Account Officer Shri. Deepak Velip along with librarians and other staff were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion the Director Art and Culture said that the library should adopt the latest technologies to provide services to the readers. Smt. Sulaksha Kolmule briefed “Five Laws of Library Science” with new insights and interpretation with the development in Science and Technology.
On the occasion exhibition of books on Library Science displayed on the 5th floor of Central Library has organized and also released In-house publications complied by library staff as annual report 2021-22, Os Primodios Da Imprensa E Do Jornalismo, Compilation of articles of Journalism in Goa, A Vanguard Alphabetical Article Index, Goa Puri – Term Co-ordinating Index, Goa Today – Alphabetical Article Index.
The programme was followed by a PowerPoint presentation on “Unique Libraries in India” Cultural programme and quiz competition for librarians to the participating librarians of Central Library, District Library, Govt. Taluka and Govt. Nagar libraries in the State.
