CM TO INAUGURATE ORIENTATION PROGRAM FOR JOURNALISTS

An orientation programme for the journalists, working in various Media Houses – print, electronic, e portal and other social media platforms is organized by the Department of Information and Publicity at Great Hall, Hotel Fidalgo, Panaji on August 19, 2022. Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant will inaugurate the event at 10.00 am.

Secretary of Information and Publicity, Shri Subhash Chandra, IAS and Shri Dipak Bandekar, Director, Information and Publicity will grace the occasion. Renowned journalists, Shri Anand Narsimhan, Editor and Anchor, CNN News 18 and Dr. Sanjay Tambat, Assistant Professor, Savitribai Phule College, Pune Maharashtra will be the resource persons for the programme. Shri Anand Narsimhan, Editor and Anchor, CNN News 18 will speak on “As Medium & Methods Change, Will Journalism too?” Dr. Sanjay Tambat, Savitribai Phule College, Pune Maharashtra will speak on the subject “Changing Media Environment: Challenges and Opportunities in Contemporary Journalism”.

Shri Anand Narsimhan is one of the lucky few who would make passion his profession, enjoy every moment of his Dream Job. He holds a Mass Communication diploma from St Xavier’s College, Mumbai and an MBA in Marketing from SIES College, Nerul, Navi Mumbai. From sales to advertising to broadcast Shri Narshimhan is one of the few in the media industry who have a 360 degree understanding of the dynamics of the business of communication. Winner of Dream Job – Harsha Ki Khoj in 2005, his broadcast career took flight as a sports presenter with ESPN on Sportscenter India ( in Hindi & English).

He is currently the main face on the Network with flagship shows both in English – The Right Stand at 8pm & The Nation@5 on CNN News18 and in Hindi – Akhada on News18 India. Anand is also actively involved in the campaign to make every Indian a Water Warrior with #MissionPaani and strongly backs the #India Against Rape campaign on the Network. Anand is also the face of Young Genius, a unique endeavor that profiles and celebrates extraordinary children in the age group of 6- 15 years. To change with the times and more importantly be the change is a philosophy that he fully embraces. Dr. Sanjay Tambat, Professor, Savitribai Phule College, Pune Maharashtra is presently teaching subjects like Current Affairs, World View: Issues, Ideas and Challenges, Sociology of Communication, Principles and Ethics of Journalism, Communication Theory and Practice, Trends in Journalism. He has penned numerous articles in regional Marathi dailies such as Sakal, Maharashtra Times, Samana, Pudhari, Divya Marathi on contemporary topics related to media and social issues.

Presently he is working as Assistant Professor, Department of Communication and Journalism, Savitribai Phule Pune University. He is the Chairman, Board of Studies, Communication and Journalism, SPPU, Member of Academic Council, SPPU and Former member, Marathi Vishwakosh Mandal, Maharashtra.
