Revised press note PM, CM INTERACT WITH BENEFICIARIES OF CENTRALLY SPONSORED SCHEMES

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi today interacted with beneficiaries of Centrally sponsored welfare schemes and programmes via video conferencing from Shimla, Himachal Pradesh at the ‘Garib Kalyan Sammelan’ which is part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav being celebrated across the country to commemorate 75 years of our Independence. Present on the occasion were Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Rajendra Arlekar.

In Goa, beneficiaries from North Goa attended the ‘Garib Kalyan Sammelan’ via video conference at Institute Menezes Braganza Hall, Panaji.

In his address after the interaction, Shri Narendra Modi said that earlier the country’s image was tarnished with scams and corruption but today when one talks of India, people relate it to taking benefits of Government schemes, Start-ups, Ease of Doing Business etc.

Shri Modi said that the Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme where money is transferred directly into the accounts of the beneficiaries helped plug money leakages and avoided middle men. Fake beneficiaries who were doing a big injustice to poor people have also been eliminated. This helped in times of tackling Covid wherein maximum benefit went to the needy, he added.

People say Governments come and go said Shri Modi but the system which needs to change remains the same. Shri Modi spoke of how changes were brought to the system and improvements to benefit the poor. Shri Modi went on to say that the Government is working for a new India and not to create a vote bank. The aim is Atmanirbhar Bharat, that’s how he said they have been winning the trust of everyone. He said that India is marching to a future where locals manufacture and export to the world.

On the occasion, the PM released the 11th instalment of Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme worth Rs. 21,000 crores

Earlier, Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant interacted with the beneficiaries of the Central schemes in Goa. He said large sections of the people of Goa are already covered under these schemes and he urged those eligible who are not registered to do so to avail the benefits.

Dr Sawant said that already electricity, water supply, and toilets are provided in every household in Goa.

MoS for Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Tourism, Shri Shripad Naik also spoke on the occasion.

Present were Minister for Tourism, Shri Rohan Khaunte, Minister for Fisheries, Shri Nilkanth Halarnkar, Chairperson of Economic Development Corporation (EDC), Shri Sadanand Shet Tanavade, MLA, Mayem, Shri Premendra Shet, among others.

Secretary, Ports, Shri P. S. Reddy, IAS, Secretary, Rural Development, Shri Sanjay Gihar, IAS, Secretary, Urban Development, Shri Ramesh Verma, IAS, were also present at the interactive session.

The interaction took place with the beneficiaries of schemes and progammes such as Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Poshan Abhiyan, Pradhan Mantri Matri Vandana Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural and Urban), Jal Jeevan Mission and AMRUT, Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana, One Nation-One Ration Card, Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, Ayushman Bharat PM Jan Arogya Yojana, Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres and Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana.

The beneficiaries thanked the Prime Minister for implementing these schemes for their betterment and welfare.
