GOVERNOR INAUGURATES BIO METHANATION PLANT

Governor of Goa, Shri. P. S. Sreedharan Pillai inaugurated the Bio Methanation Plant installed at Raj Bhavan, Donapaula in collaboration with the Corporation of the City of Panaji for Clean and Green Waste Management at Raj Bhavan today. Mayor, Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) Shri Rohit J. Monserrate and Secretary to the Governor Shri R. Mihir Vardhan were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, the Governor complimented the Mayorm of CCP for his efforts in adopting such inovative technology and establishing Bio Methanation Plants in various locations throughout the State’s capital. People ought to support national policy by implementing such innovative technology, he added.
Shri Vardhan briefing about the Bio Methanation Plant said that this is the second plant installed at Raj Bhavan – first was installed in July 2021. Both plants will produce approximately 2 kgs of cooking gas by using wet waste from Raj Bhavan and from small Goshala as ingredients to produce cooking gas, which will be used in Raj Bhavan kitchens and the canteen. Shri Vardhan said that this is the best way to manage the Solid Waste Management System and to generate very clean and green energy, as well as to have a self-sustaining solid waste management system. More such types of plants will be installed at Raj Bhavan in the future. He thanked the Mayor and CCP for their assistance in establishing this new technology and managing the system in a clean and green manner.
Speaking on the occasion, CCP Mayor said Panjim, being the capital city, is always at the forefront of waste management. This technology allows restaurants to use and manage their waste management system effectively.
