CJI Bobde To Inaugurate New High Court On March 27

The State machinery is all set to inaugurate the New Building of the Bombay High Court at Goa at Penha de Franca, Porvorim on March 27, 2021 at the hands of the Chief Justice of India Shri Sharad Arvind Bobde in the august presence of Minister of Law and Justice, Shri. Ravi Shankar Prasad; Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod P. Sawant; Chief Justice of the High Court of Bombay, Justice Dipankar Datta; Judge, High Court of Bombay at Goa, Justice Mahesh S. Sonak and other dignitaries.
Besides five Supreme Court Judges and around 62 Judges of the Bombay High Court and its benches in Aurangabad, Nagpur and Goa will be attending the inaugural function. Minister for Law and Judiciary Shri Nilesh Cabral; Advocate General for the State of Goa, Shri. Devidas Pangam and other dignitaries will also attend the function.
The new two storey court building has been constructed by Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation ( GSIDC) and the building comprises of seven Court Halls, Record, Library, Accounts, Protocol, Conference Hall and other sections, besides chambers for the Judges, Registrars and staff.
There are user friendly washrooms, crèche, senior citizen rooms, pantries, canteen, audio visual signage’s, Braille, and tactile signs. The new court building also has facilities for the lawyers like meeting room, Bar rooms.
A portion of the new High Court Building on the ground floor houses the Goa State Legal Services Authority.
The building has been designed according to sustainable principles combining value engineering with contemporary architectural strategies for cross ventilation, optimum use and re-use of natural resources, such as local material, light, water. There is a vast area for basement car parking and utilities. There is also provision for sewerage treatment plant and compost pits and waste segregation bins within the complex as informed by the Department of Information and Publicity.
