CM Inauguurates SCI-FFI

The 6th edition of two day Science Film Festival of India kick started in the State today. The Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant in the presence of Vice Chairman of ESG and other dignitaries inaugurated the SCI-FFI at INOX today.
The Science Film Festival of India has been organized by Vidnyan Bharati Goa in partnership with the Department of Science & Technology, ESG, ICCAR, NIO, Goa University etc. The two day festival will be celebrated by conducting various activities like lectures, seminar, exhibition, film making master class etc.
The Chief Minister while speaking said that the Government promotes research activities in the State. The students who have participated in this film festival should go home and spread importance of science and scientific thinking.
He exhorted upon the youths who intend to choose the line of research to start innovative thinking. We have to work to develop interest about science, innovative thinking and to enhance scientific temperament in society, he said and urged the youth to enter into research field which is the need of the hour.
The Director of Department of Science & Technology, Shri Levinson Martins while speaking said that this festival is being organized since last five years with an objective to develop interest among children. The main aim of this festival is to enhance scientific understanding among students. He said Government has initiated various steps towards making Goa as science Hub. The Department of Science and Technology intends to promote research and has planned to organize lectures, workshops in schools and Colleges he informed.
Vice-Chairman ESG, Shri Subhash Phaldesai, Director ICCAR Dr. E. Chakurkar, Director NIO Dr. Sunilkumar Singh, Heàd Vidnyan Prasar Delhi Shri Nimish Kumar, Patron of SCI-FFI Shri Shekhar Desai, Science Students, Teachers, Scientists, and others were present for the function.
President of Vidnyan Bharati Goa, Prof. Suhas Godse, welcomed the gathering.
