Silveira Inaugurates Krishi Mela

MLA and Chairman of NGPDA Shri Francisco Silveira inaugurated Krishi Mela organized under Soil Health Card Scheme (Atma irbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa ) by the Directorate of Agriculture at Neura Village Panchayat today.
Shri Silveira while speaking underscored the need to preserve soil for taking up farming in future. He said that the extreme use of chemical fertilizers resulted in damaging the health ie, cultivability of soil. Farmers have to adopt modern technology to enhance production and for yielding high profit.
Shri Silveira advised the farmers to undertake organic farming for taking care of health of people and of the land as well. He urged the officials to extend cooperation to the farmers in times of their difficulties and encourage them to boost farming he urged
Shri Slilveira congratulated the Agriculture Department for organizing Krishi Mela at Neura in the interest of the local farmers. Thereafter he presented certificates of scope for those who participated in the contest organized under Parampargat Krishi Vikas Yojana.
The Director Department of Agriculture Shri Nevil Alfanso while speaking said that the purpose behind organizing Krishi Mela was to impress upon the farmers the importance of health of soil. Massive use of fertilizer lead to ruine the health of soil. He exhorted the farmers to maintain the health of the soil to keep the land cultivable for future. He advised the farmers to take up organic farming to protect the health of soil, the environment, and our health as well.
Shri Kashinath Naik, the Consultant enlightened the participants about various schemes of Agriculture. He also stressed on the benefits of organic farming and how it will improve the health of soil. In other words organic farming crucial for our health as well. He also highlighted the importance and the need of Farmer and Producers Organizations in the interest of farmers.
Smt. Anuja Dicholkar, local lady farmer shared her experience that she has succeeded in developing vegetable nursery and become successful farmer.
Shri Kishor Bhave, Assistant Director Agriculture gave detail information about integrated pest management through which how farmer can save loss to their produce cause due to pests. He also appealed about various pests that damage plantation like coconut, cashew, mango, banana and others vegetable plants as well.
Shri Vishwas Shirodkar Chemist, explaining the importance of soil testing and the management of health of the soil stressed on the need of organic farming essential for our health.
Sarpanch V.P. Agacaim Shri Xavier Gracious also spoke on the ocassion. Deputy Director Agriculture ATMA Shri Dilip Paranjape, ZP Member Shri Dhaku Madkaikar, Sarpanch VP Neura Smt. Usha Naik, Sarpanch V.P Curca Bambolim, Smt Verodiana Dsouza, Sarpanch Sirdao Palem, Shri Jagdish Gopal Gawas, Principal Goa College of Music Prof Ramrao Wagh. were among those who present on the ocassion .
