Mauvin Disburses Sanction Orders to Road Accidents Victims

Minister for Transport, Shri Mauvin Godinho today disbursed 24 sanction orders under the Goa State Interim Compensation to Road Accidents Scheme to the road accident victims and their survivors at a function held at Secretariat, Porvorim.
The scheme implemented by the Transport Department aims to provide monetary relief to the road accident victims irrespective of their insurance benefits.
Transport Minister , Shri Godinho said that Government will soon bring Motor Vehicle Act and stressed the need for it in the State to reduce the accident, Shri Mauvin maintained that there is no intension of the State Government as well as Central Government to penalise the people. If people follow the traffic rules, no fines will be imposed, he said and appealed to the parent not to provide vehicle to minor children. They can drive vehicle only after procuring licence. People should follow Mantra ‘Dont break law no fine’, he remarked.
Shri. Godinho felt the need have more awareness about this scheme as a large section of people is still unaware about the Scheme so as to avail benefit under this scheme. He appealed the people to avail the benefit of the scheme .
Shri. Godinho disbursed 24 sanction orders total amounting to Rs 48 to the families of accident victims. The Scheme provides Rs. 2 lakhs as monetary help in case of death.
The Goa State Interim Compensation to Road Accidents Scheme provides Rs. 2 lakhs as monetary help in case of death, Rs 1.50 lakhs in case of permanent injury, Rs. One lakh in case of serious permanent injury not leading to loss of job or occupation but hospitalization exceeds 60 days immediately after accident. Also in case of less serious injury Rs.50 thousands of help can be availed, and Rs. 10 thousands is provided in case of 3 to 7 days of hospitalisation.
