CM PAID TRIBUTE TO DR. CUNHA ON HIS DEATH ANNIVERSARY

Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant today led the people of the State in paying rich tributes to Dr. Tristao Braganza Cunha, revered as the Father of Goa’s Liberation Movement, on the occasion of his death anniversary.
In a solemn ceremony held at Azad Maidan in Panaji, the Chief Minister laid a wreath at the memorial of Dr. T. B. Cunha, honoring his pioneering role in the struggle against colonial rule and his lifelong commitment to the cause of Goan freedom.
Joining the Chief Minister in paying homage were Shri Ramkrishna alias Sudin Dhavalikar, Minister for Power; Shri Sanjiv Gadkar, IAS, Secretary Protocol; Shri Yetindra Maralkar, IAS, Secretary Co-operation; Ms. Cheshta Yadav, IAS, Secretary, Tribal Welfare; Shri Prasad Lolayekar, IAS, Secretary, Education; Shri Prasanna Acharya, IAS, Secretary Fisheries; Shri Ankit Yadav, IAS, Collector North Goa; and Shri Rohidas Naik Desai, President, Goa Daman Diu Freedom Fighters Association, among other dignitaries and senior officials.
A police guard of honour presented formal respects at the memorial, while the Police Band played the Last Post followed by the National Anthem, marking the solemnity of the occasion.
Tristao de Braganca Cunha (1891-1958), known as the “Father of Goan nationalism” was a key figure in Goa’s anti-colonial movement, recognized for organizing the first significant efforts to end Portuguese rule in the region.
