Clarification by GCZA – statement made by Premanand Diukar, President Calangute Constituency Forum

The Authority has taken serious note of the press statement made by Calangute Constituency Forum through its President one Premanand Diukar reported in a section of the media.

In this regard, the Authority clarifies as follows:

1. The site inspection on 27th April 2022 at Vaddy Candolim was to ascertain compliance of the demolition orders issued by the Authority. The inspection was conducted by Authority’s engineer and field surveyor in presence of representatives of the complainants and respondent. Further process will be initiated in the matter based on the inspection report.

2. It is stated that no expert member of the Authority was part of the inspection team on 27th April 2022. Hence, the baseless insinuations and defamatory statements made against an expert member of the Authority are totally uncalled for and intended to intimidate the Authority members. Such irresponsible statements raise questions on whether environmental conservation is the true intent of the author and/or his organisation, or whether it is something else.

3. The GCZMA deals with all matters of CRZ violation in accordance with law and principles of natural justice.

We request the media to henceforth authenticate such information with the Authority before publication for benefit of the public.
