LET’S MAKE SMART VILLAGES: MAUVIN GODINHO Panaji, December 10, 2018 Agrahayana 19, 1940             “The village panchayats are moving at a rapid pace. There are various schemes available for panchayats and the Directorate also has enough funds, proper utilization of which is mandatory,” stated Minister for Panchayat Shri. Mauvin Godinho after inauguration a Community Hall Complex at Keri in Ponda taluka.   The Minister further added that to smoothen the workflow at the Directorate, its functioning will be soon digitalized and the salary of the sarpanchas and panchas will be looked into. “For an inclusive growth of a village, its residents and the panchayat members must unite and act positively towards betterment of their village. Why only the cities, let’s make our villages smarter,” the Minister said.               Minister for Art and Culture Shri. Govind Gaude who was the special invitee for the function congratulated the villagers for their persistent efforts towards the completion of the project. He also promised to provide the village with three phase electricity connection, street lights and six hours of continues water supply. A small area will be developed next to the Community Hall to enable arrangement of buffet party during wedding, Shri. Gaude said.             Former Speaker Adv. Vishwas Satarkar, Sarpanch of V.P. Keri Smt. Anisha Gaude, Director- Directorate of Panchayat Shri. Rajan Satardekar, BDO Ponda Shri. Prasiddha Naik, Shri. Sandip Nigalye, a local businessman and Shri. Rohidas Kerkar, ex sarpanch were present among others on the occasion.             Earlier, Shri. Mauvin Godinho unveiled the plaque and inaugurated the premises.  The formal function began by lighting the traditional lamp by the dignitaries followed by a welcome song sung by students of Surashree Kesarbai Kerkar High School. Smt. Anisha Gaude welcomed the gathering. Adv. Satarkar, Shri. Nigalye and Shri. Rohidas Kerkar also spoke on the occasion. Shri. Satardekar briefed the gathering about a few schemes of the Directorate. The dignitaries were later given mementoes by the sarpanch. Shri. Dilip Palasarkar compered the function while Shri. Prasann Naik proposed the vote of thanks.             The complex is built under ‘Upgradation of Infrastructure in the Rural Areas under Deendayaal Panchayat Raj Infrastructure Development(Golden Jubilee) scheme 2013’ and consists 11 Shops on Ground floor and a Community Hall with seating Capacity of 300 persons on the first floor.
