The Department of Food & Drug Authority  under the aegis  of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India,  organized  Swasth Bharat Yatra ( Pan India bicycle tour )  and to sensitize the masses  organized Prabhat Pheri at Campal  in the city  today. Smt. Jyoti  Sardessai, Director of Food & Drug Authority flagged off the same. More than two hundred people including   school students, NCC students, Anganwadi Workers, Staff of FDA, Members of Indian Medical Association, staff of the Department of Women & Child Development  were   also participated in the

  Swasth Bharat Yatra, an outreach of 'Eat Right India' movement is a Pan-India cyclathon. 150 'Volunteer-Cyclists' along with the 'Eat Right Mobile Unit' and 'Mobile Food Testing Unit' would travel across the country over 100+ days to engage citizens on issues of food safety, combating food adulteration and healthy diets. The cyclathon will be flagged off on 16th October, 2018 (World Food Day) from six different locations. After covering 2000+ locations, it will culminate at New Delhi on 27th January, 2019.

The Secretary Health Shri J.Ashok kumar who was the chief guest for the function, in his address called upon the people to take right and proper   food to keep themselves happy. Swasth Bharat Yatra has been organized in commemoration of 150th birth anniversary of father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi. During this period various activities will be conducted to sensitize the masses about taking right food for better health. A nation will become healthy if the citizens   are healthy.
