          Minister for Art and Culture Shri. Govind Gaude today laid the foundation stone of Construction of Multifacility Community Centre ‘Sanskrutik Bhavan’ at Kalamamol Borim in Ponda. The construction undertaken under Department of Tribal Welfare and financed by Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC).

Venancio Furtado, GSIDC’s representative Shri. Joshi, Panch members Smt. Jyoti Naik, Shri. Sunil Sawkar, Shri. Kamalakant Naik, Smt. Philomena Vaz were those among present.

          Addressing the gathering Shri Gaude urged people to use and maintain the Community Centre like their own house. “Government is by the people and for the people. The money invested in building such projects is also people’s money. So, we must take care of such centres like our own house. We must keep it clean. We must come together, co-ordinate and co-operate with each other to keep the sanctity of the place alive,” the Minister said. He further added that the Borim Community Centre is the first among a few community centres planned in Ponda Taluka.

          Shri. Shirodakar in his address appreciated the Village Panchayat Borim and its members. “Borim is a small village, yet, it has made a commendable progress in past few years. Let us all come together for a better future,” he said.

          The Multi-facility centre is situated in ward No 2 of Village Panchayat Borim. The construction will be undertaken by Department of Tribal Welfare in association with The centre will house a hall with sitting capacity of 700 people, a conference room, store room and an office.

          Shri. Shailesh Borkar compered while Shri. Manohar Naik proposed the vote of thanks. The program was attended by residents of Borim in large number.
