“Odissi Dance by Ms. Janhabi Behera from Odissa”

The Directorate of Art and Culture, in Collaboration with Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Goa and Ravindra Bhavan, Margao will be organizing a  Odissi Dance Performance Ms. Janhabi Behera from Odissa on Thursday  September 27, 2018 at 6.30 p.m under Horizon Series of ICCR at Ravindra Bhavan,  Fatorda, Margao.  


Ms. Janabi Behera, as a dancer,   devoted her life to pursue her passion Odossi, the most ancient classical dance forms of India.  She has initiated into dance in her childhood by Guru Ramesh Chandra Jena and Guru Yudhisthir Nayak who groomed her into a finely balanced and deeply expressive Odissi dancer known for her skilful expression and gracious moves she carved a niche for herself as soloist and earned a name as repertoire dancer of the highly acclaimed institution, Orissa Dance Academy, Bhubaneshwar, Nurtured under the strict vigilance of Guru Aruna Mohanty and guided by legendary Guru late Gangadhar Pradhan.


Ms. Janabi has performed extensively in and outside the country.  She has given notable performances in Konark Festival, Odissi Sandhya, Swornastav by Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi.  Sukma Mahostav, Tripurasundari Festival, Khajuraho Festival, Surya Festival, Mamallapuram Festival, Gungur Festival, Mukteswar Festival, Ugayranga, Geeta Govinda Festival, Stirring Odissi Festival (Malaysia).


   The Department of Art and Culture requests the music and dance lovers & all interested to attend this programme in large number i.e. on September 27, 2018 at 6.30 p.m. at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.
