"It is not sufficient to merely start public projects. It is important to complete them and our Government is completing all its projects," said the Minister for Public Works, Shri. Ramkrishna alias Sudin Dhavalikar. The Minister was speaking after inaugurating the under passage for MDR-14 across NH-17 (New-66) at Tar Bastora Junction-Mapusa, today. Shri Dhavalikar further said, "There's this criticism from some sections that the Government is not functioning. The completion of this project is proof that the Government is constantly working." The Minister spoke of the other public works planned for Bardez taluka. He said that solving the sewerage issue of Mapusa and augmenting the water supply for the constituencies in Bardez talukas were a priority among other things.

The MLA from Aldona constituency, Shri. Glenn Ticlo said that the people had a lot of expectations from this project and were eagerly awaiting its inauguration. He said that the project was delayed because of the shifting of 3.3 KV power cable and electric poles, shifting of water supply pipeline and transportation work of precast girders of third Mandovi bridge. Shri Ticlo thanked the Chief Minister of Goa, Shri Manohar Parrikar and PWD Minister, Shri Dhavalikar and the Union Minister, Shri Nitin Gadkari for helping this project see the light of day.

The newly constructed under passage at Tar Bastora Junction-Mapusa, which is sanctioned at a cost of Rs. 29.42 crores, is 20:00 m wide, 5.00 m height for a lenght of 23:00 mts. The approach road from Panaji side has been constructed for a lenght of 250 mt and Panvel side is 180 mts respectively, with slip roads of 5:00 mts width on either side.

Provision for all safety measures such as traffic signal systems, crash barriers and signages along the passage have been adequately made. DI/NB/TSS/JA/CR/2018/
