The Governor of Goa, Dr. (Smt.) Mridula Sinha convened a meeting at Raj Bhavan, today, to chalk out the Gandhi Samagra programme, which will be held in Goa in commemoration of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

The Governor said that the aim of the programme is to propagate the principles of Mahatma Gandhi and the Gandhi philosophy among the people of Goa and adapt them to contemporary times to make them relevant. Dr Sinha said that the programme is aimed at spreading Gandhiji's legacy among the people of Goa, especially among the youth and students.

As part of the programme, Prabhat ferries will be held culminating at a prominent place where flagship programmes of the Government will be discussed. Besides, wall paintings, street plays and essay competitions have also been planned.

Secretary to the Governor, Rupesh Kumar Thakur, IAS, Chief Secretary, Shri Dharmendra Sharma, IAS, Secretary Education, Smt. Nila Mohanan, IAS, Special Secretary (Home), Anjali Sehrawat, IAS, Vice-Chancellor of Goa University, Shri Varun Sahni, were among those present at the meeting.
