Revolution to uphold quality of life; inclusiveness

to eradicate disparity and inequality

Minister for Town and Country Planning, Shri Vijay Sardessai exhorted upon the people of the State to give a call for Revolution - a revolution that will uphold the quality of life with all inclusiveness to Eradicate disparity and inequality leading to economic growth of all sections.


Speaking at the Goa Revolution Day Celebration after laying wreaths at the Martyrs Memorial and the statue of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia at Lohia Maidan, Margao Shri Sardessai called for total revolution in our thinking, revolution in our approach to problems and our methods to solve it, revolution in our attitudes and our relation to the government. 


Speaking further, the TCP Minister said goenkars, particularly the youth should be the nucleus of development in the State. It is important to have the march of progress for the State with due focus on the youth, he said and remarked that human development is more important than physical development by spending crores of rupees.


Shri Sardessai stressing the need to have world class universities and world class technology in the State favoured the idea of employment based education to imbibe entrepreneurship in our youth to enable them to stand on their own feet.  There is a need to promote entrepreneurship among the youth not only in IT but in all fields including agriculture, industry, art and culture, etc. he added.

Exodus of youths to other countries is taking place due to lack of opportunities, he said and pointed that the youths need to be employable educated to sustain their enterprise and encourage others to set shop.


Recalling the sacrifices of the freedom fighters to create awareness among the people to free us from colonial rule he appealed to the people to participate in the State’s Historic Dates in large numbers.  The goans need to have a positive mindset wherein the government and the people work in tandem so that the benefit reaches to the larger sections of the society, he remarked.


Underscoring the need to take the State on World Tourist Destination with requisite infrastructure with due peoples participation Shri Sardessai said development with consent of people as is being carried out in Fatorda should be extended all across the State.


Freedom Fighter, Shri Vaman Prabhugaonkar in his address highlighted the importance of the historic day.


The Minister on his arrival was received by the District Magistrate, Shri Anjali Sehrawat, IAS.


Ex-Chief Minister & MLA, Margao, Shri Digambar Kamat, Chairperson, MMC, Dr. Babita Prabhudessai; Freedom Fighters, Additional Collectors, Shri Surendra Naik and Shri Johnson B. Fernandes were amongst those prominent persons present on the occasion.
