            Team of Food Safety Officers from Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) inspected the premises of M/S Mount Spring, operating from Canca Bandh, Parra, Bardez and shut it as it was found working without License under the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSAI), and under unhygienic conditions. The FDA team comprised of Shri Rajaram Patil, Shri. Shivdas Naik, Shri. Atul Desai, Smt. Shruti Pilernekar, assisted by Shri Pradeep Parsekar and Shri. Babaji Karkonkar.

            M/S Mount Spring, which was operated by Shri. Suraj Xetgaokar and Shri. Amtesh Sawant, is a temporary structure made up of iron grills and cement sheets at the back side of residential house. Well water was used for manually filling 20 liters Jars, in total non compliance to the requirements under Food Safety and Standards Act. The unit manufactured packaged drinking water under unhygienic conditions, whose quality could not be vouched. The water was being supplied to the various renowned hotels, shacks, caterers, office and shop premises, including Banks.

            The FDA has warned Public and Food Business Operators against consuming such Packaged Drinking Water, which is manufactured under unhygienic conditions and not to conduct any Food Business without obtaining Licence from FDA.  It has also advised to purchase food articles only from the licensed dealers and the packets which carry FSSAI License number.

            Director, FDA Smt. Jyoti Sardesai has said that Food Safety Officers will be there in the field continuously to detect such violations, and legal action will be initiated against these violators.
