Minister for Panchayat, Shri Mauvin Godinho inaugurated the new Panchayat Ghar comprising of community hall at Village Panchayat Sarzora in presence of MLA and Chairman, Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation, Shri Dipak Prabhu Pauskar; MLA, Shri Philip Neri Rodrigues; Sarpanch, V P Sarzora, Smt Shabita Mascarenhas; Deputy Sarpanch, Smt Leena Carvalho; Director, Directorate Panchayat, Shri Ajit Panchwadkar; Deputy Director, Smt Snehal Prabhu and Parish Priest, Sarzora Church, Fr Oswald D’souza, today.

The ground plus two storey building project is constructed through Upgradation of Infrastructure in the rural areas under Deendayal Panchayat Raj Infrastructure Development (Golden Jubilee) Scheme, woprk of which was undertaken through GSIDC.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Godinho said, the work and duty of any Government is to improve the quality of life by providing the citizens with improved infrastructure and facilities. Panchayat serves the grass root level.  A stage from where the basic development of society starts, Government is of the opinion that the powers should be given with responsibilities. Government is for all round development of the State, he maintianed.

The scheme which as of now was providing upto Rs 2.5 crores for the construction of new Panchayat will be increased to Rs. 3.5 crores.   An amount of Rs. 40 Lakh will be deposited in Panchayat fund for the maintainance of the building under the Maintainance Scheme, file for which are under process, he said. More five new Panchayat building projects will soon be completed, Godinho informed.

The Directorate of Panchayat have initiated many steps for collection and management of garbage in the State he said.

Shri Dipak Pauskar said, GSIDC gives importance to quality and time bound work. Many development works are being carried out through GSIDC in Vellim constituency he added.

Shri Philip Neri expressing happinees at the completion of the Panchayat Ghar as it is a fulfilment of a long pending demand hoped that the new building will be the house of innovations and ideas.

Sarpanch, Smt Shabita Mascarenhas welcomed the gathering.

The Panchayat Ghar is built on an area admeasuring 1010 Sq. mts with a total built up area of 943.86 Sq. Mts. It consists of 11 Shops on the ground floor while the first floor houses the Panchyat office with cabin for Sarpanch and Secretary, conference room, record room, general staff and pantry and a room for electricity department and Animal Husbandry. Multipurpose Hall with a capacity of 250 people with green room is located on the second floor.
