Constitution Day was celebrated at the Secretariat, Porvorim today. The Chief Minister,  Dr Pramod Sawant read out the Preamble of the Indian Constitution. Present on the occasion were the Minister for Urban Development, Shri Milind Naik and Principal Secretary (Power), Shri Puneet Kumar Goel, IAS.

Also present were Secretaries to the Government, Heads of Government Departments and Secretariat staff, among others. Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Divasi is celebrated on November 26 every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India and to pay tribute to the invaluable contribution of Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and other founding fathers of the Constitution.

          This year the country is celebrating 70th anniversary of the adoption of the constitution. To commemorate this very important event in the life of Indian democracy. Government of India has proposed to launch a National Campaign focusing on creating awareness regarding a very important feature of the Constitution –the Fundamental Duties. The said campaign would start on the November 26, 2019 and culminate on the occasion of Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Birth Anniversary i.e. on April 14, 2020, which is celebrated as ‘Samrasta Diwas’.
