South Goa District Disaster Management Authority in Association with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Pune organized programme on “Community awareness and Disaster preparedness 2019. The function was chaired by Additional Collector II for South Goa Shri Surendra Naik. Deputy Collector & Sub-Divisional Officer-I (SDO-I),Salcete Shri Uday Prabhudessai, Dy. Collector for Land Acquisition Smt. Snehal Prabhu,  Team Leader of NDRF Shri R.R. Laskar and, Asst. Professor of Don Bosco Engineering College, Fatorda Shri Satyesh Kakodkar were also present.

The Programme was also attended by Mamletdar, Jt.Mamledar, Talathi’s from Salcete, Village Panchayat Secretaries and also Students of Mechanical and Civil branch from Don Bosco Engineering College, Fatorda.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Surendra Naik said that incidents of disasters are very common it might be natural or manmade such as flood, Earth quake, landslides etc. The only way to face/tackle or reduce/minimize  the damage caused to life , property and the environment due to disaster is to prepare ourselves fully by acquiring basic knowledge about disaster. Preventive action needs to be taken, to know resources available to provide relief to disaster affected people etc and through this programme you will be able to understand the same he added. First respondent being  Talathi’s , panchayat secretaries and police who are require immediately to go to site he said.

 Speaking further Shri Naik said that the Government has asked to all concern authorities to prepare Disaster Management Plan (DMP). Direction is also given to prepare the plan for every School by Headmasters and also Village Pachayat level, Taluka wise , District wise and State level he informed.
