POLICE DEPARTMENT LAUNCHES ERSS PROJECT TO HELP PEOPLE IN DISTRESS

In a move to provide immediate and hassle free help and support to people in various emergencies the Police Department in association with the Ministry of Home Affairs today launched Emergency Response Support System (ERSS). Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant inaugurated the ERSS project at a function held at Panaji Police Station today.

Chief Minister Dr. Sawant informed that the ERSS aims to deliver swift support to citizens in distress throughout the State. ERSS has universal Dial number 112  which will replace the existing emergency number i.e. 100 of Police, 101 of Fire services. Ambulance number 108 will be connected to ERSS very soon, he added.

Chief Minister congratulated the Police Department for introducing this unique project of ERSS to benefit the people in distress and reduce the crime rate in the State.

ERSS has been installed at existing  control room of  Police Department, Panaji and will have one District Coordination centre at Margao. It was informed that, a citizen by dialling 112 will receive immediate response and nearest required support will be made available.

Director General of Police Shri. Pranab Nanda IPS, Inspectorate General of Police Shri. Jaspal Singh IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police Shri. Parmaditya IPS, Director, Directorate of Fire and Emergency Shri. Ashok Menon and other senior officials of Police Department were present on the occasion.
