GOVERNOR EXTENDS GREETINGS ON THE OCCASION OF DUSSEHRA

The Governor Smt Mridula Sinha has extended warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Goa on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra.

          In her message, the Governor has said that, India is a country which is famous for its culture and tradition, fair and festivals, where people celebrate and enjoy every festival with great joy and faith. Dussehra is one such significant festival celebrated all across the country. The celebration of Dussehra also called as ‘Vijayadashmi’, indicates the victory of Lord Rama over the demon king Ravana. Lord Rama symbolizes truth while Ravana the evil power. Since that day, the day of Vijaya Dashmi is considered to be auspicious and festive by the people of India and is celebrated as the day that symbolizes the victory of ‘Good over Evil'. It is said that this day symbolizes not as the victory of Ram but also the victory of ‘mankind'. The reason why this day is held in high regard by people who believe that whenever there will be commotion in the society and evil will try to take over humanity, the supreme power of almighty will appear in the form of savior to protect mankind, she added.

          The Governor further said, on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra let us all take a pledge to burn all the vices mushrooming inside us and let the good within us blossom which will lead us all to eternal happiness.  May the festival of Dussehra this year bring greater joy, prosperity and peace for everyone.
