‘Thank You Didi’ programme of Poshan Maah Utsav (Nutrion Month Festival) under Poshan Abhiyaan was held today where the Governor, Dr Mridula Sinha and Minister for Women and Child Development, Shri Vishwajit Rane were the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.

 The Prime Minister’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition, POSHAN Abhiyaan or National Nutrition Mission, is Government of India’s flagship programme to improve nutritional outcomes for children, pregnant women and lactating mothers. Poshan Maah Utsav was launched in the State on August 31, 2019 with various activities organized in the month of September 2019 through Anganwdi centres of the State. Thank You Didi was the part of this Poshan Maah Utsav.

 Speaking on the occasion, Smt Mridula Sinha said that women’s importance of womenin the society is increasing day by day. Women have made their name in all the fields. Women while discharging their duties in their respective professions and jobs also shoulders the responsibilities of their family life. It is thus important that they should be healthy and take nutritious food, she added.

 Anganwadi workers in the State are doing their best and with Poshan Abhiyan, their responsibility towards the society has now increased so also the people’s expectations from them. Activities held during the Poshan Maah Utsav explained the success of these programme. Poshan Maah is celebrated to take the message of nutrition to every nook and corner of the State and to make it a people’s movement. It also focuses on complimentary food, treatment and prevention of infections in children Dr Sinha said.

 Shri Vishwajit Rane praised the efforts of Anganwadi workers for their contribution towards Poshan Abhiyan. Union Government is working hard under the leadership of Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi for the betterment of the country in all aspects. The effort of the State Government is to take Women and Child Department to the next higher step, Shri Rane said.

 There are plans to make the offices of Child Development Programme Officers centre of attraction Rane said. Anganwadi Workers, helpers, members of self help groups and Mahila Mandals will be trained through these offices; he said and added that there are plans to bring vibrancy in Women and Child Development Department by empowering CDPO offices by decentralizing some powers under the leadership of Director of Department.

He informed that the Union Government has provided lot of support to Empower the Department. 100 Anganwadis are taken up to create modern Anganwadis which will be with counseling centers. These modern anganwadis will provide students e-learning and counseling facility with necessary tie-up of NGO’s. Economy activity cell will also be set up by the Department Shri Rane pointed.

Secretary, Women and Child Development, Shri C A Garg, IAS while welcoming said Poshan Abhiyan in the State has become a people’s movement as more than 13,500 activities were held under this.

 Director, Department of Women and Child Development, Smt Deepali Naik giving a presentation spoke about the details of the various activities held during Poshan Maah Utsav and later proposed vote of thanks.

 CDPO’s, Anganwadi Sevikas and workers were honored on the occasion by presenting certificate of appreciation.
