          Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant along with Minister for Social Welfare  Shri Milind Naik, feliciteted 17 Senior Citizens at   Ravindra Bhavan, Sankhali today.
The function was organized by the Directorate of Social Welfare on the occasion of International Day for Senior Citizens.
Present on the occasion were,  Shri Sanjay Kumar,  Secretary,  Social Welfare, Shri Parag Nagarsekar, Director, Social welfare Department and Shri Sanatan Fernandes, Dy. Director of the Department among others.

          Addressing the Senior Citizens who gathered in large numbers at Ravindra Bhavan, the Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant  said, that by providing a platform for the senior citizens to showcase their commendable work and their experience  will help to boost the morale of the students. He said, the Directorate of Social Welfare and Directorate of Education should comes together and think on this concept which  will bring opportunity to garner the resource of senior citizens, which will help to bring positive approach in the minds of youths, he added.
         The Chief Minister applauded the work of the former Chief Minister, late Manohar Parrikar and said, it was his vision to start such a unique scheme in the state of Goa for the benefits of senior citizens.
       Stressing on the initiatives of the Government the Chief Minister highlighted the uniqueness of the Umeed Centers in the state. He said Ummed Centres are performing as platforms for the Senior Citizens to share their thoughts within the inmates. Keeping in mind the necessity and importance of such Centres the Government has provided all basic facilities to such centres, he added.
        Speaking on the occasion Shri Milind Naik said that the Government always recognizes the commendable work done by the senior citizens in various fields on the occasion of International Day for Senior Citizens.
        Shri Naik further said, the Government is always there to help the senior citizens and in case of any difficulties he advised to contact the Directorate of Social Welfare for assistance, he added.
        Earlier Shri Parag Nagarsekar, welcomed the Guests. Smt. Rajani Bhembre spoke on behalf of the Senior Citizens.
        Shri Gaurish Velguenkar and Shri Salekar compered the function.
