RECOMMENDATIONS OF 37TH GST COUNCIL MEETING

The meeting headed by Union Finance Minister and Chairperson of GST Council in its 37th meeting had made  some of the recommendations.

          The recommendation are relaxation in filling of annual returns for MSMEs for FY 2017-18 and FY 2018-19, Extension of last date for filling of appeal against orders of Appellate Authority before the GST Appellate Tribunal as the Appellate Tribunal are yet not functional. New return system now to be introduced from April, 2020. Suitable amendments in CGST Act, UTGST Act and the corresponding SGST Acts in view of creation of UTs of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. In principle decision to link Aadhar with registration of taxpayers under GST and examine the possibility of making Aadhar mandatory for claiming refunds and GST rates on hotel rooms with tariffs from Rs.1001/- to Rs.7500/- reduced to 12% from 18% and above Rs.7500/- reduced to 18% and from 28%.  

 

The meeting was chaired Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister for State Finance, Shri Anurag Thakur, Chief Minister and Finance Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant, Minister for Transport and Panchayat Shri Mauvin Godinho who are nominated members of Goa for GST Council. Among delegates were Finance Minister of States, and Shri N.K Singh, Chairman Fifteenth Finance Commission.
