CM APPEALS STAKE HOLDERS TO COOPERATE IN BOOSTING TOURISM INDUSTRY

Tourism is the backbone of our state and the Government will provide all necessary infrastructure for the growth of tourism industry said the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant.

 Chief Minister was speaking after laying of the foundation stone for new tourism projects in the State at Panaji yesterday.  The Tourism Infrastructure Projects are funded by the Government of India under the “Swadesh Darshan Scheme”.

Speaking further Dr Sawant said the Goans need to be united and work together to flourish the tourism industry. It is possible only if the Goans show interest in tourism field said the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister urged the cooperation from the stakeholders for strengthening tourism industry in the state

The Chief Minister assured the investors to support them by providing required facilities in setting the tourism industries in the state. Stressing on quality tourists the Chief Minister said, the Government is providing world class facilities in order to boost tourism sector in the state. He insisted on medical tourism which has to be developed, the Chief Minister added.

The Union Minister of State for Tourism (I/C), Shri Prahlad Singh Patel, congratulated the State for undertaking various projects under the Swadesh Darshan scheme and said that, the Goa has performed the best under the Swadesh Darshan in utilizing the funds for the purpose of promoting tourism. He further assured  all sought of assistance in completing the projects under the said scheme.

The Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Tourism, Shri Manohar (Babu) Ajgaonkar said that the more facilities are being added to its tourist destinations, so that more tourists come to Goa.

While thanking Central Government for the initiatives and financial assistance, the Minister appealed to continue with the financial assistance in order to provide best facilities to visiting tourists in the state.

The Minister for Rural Development and MLA of Calangute Constituency, Shri Michael Lobo, said the Swadesh Darshan scheme has strengthened facilities available to people along the beaches and said that these facilities should be extended to all the beaches in Goa. 

Earlier, the Chairperson of Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), and MLA of Mandrem Constituency, Shri Dayanand Sopte, gave details of the project under the Swadesh Darshan scheme being carried out in the State.

At the function, the dignitaries unveiled the plaques inaugurating the beach parking and public utility facilities at Anjuna and  Candolim and  Morjim Khind – the new  tourism destination. 

The foundation stones for the Mini Convention Center proposed at Patto in Panjim and Development of  Aguada Jail as a tourism destination were also laid on the occasion.

The Goa Tourism’s mobile application was also launched at the hands of dignitaries.

Government of India initiated the ‘Swadesh Darshan Scheme” under the Ministry of Tourism (MoT), with the intention of promoting and preserving the rich cultural and natural heritage of the country.

Present on the occasion were MLA of Siolim Constituency, Shri Vinod Palyekar, Secretary Tourism, Shri J. Ashok Kumar (IAS), Director of Tourism,  Shri Sanjiv  Gadkar, Managing  Director of GTDC, Shri Nikhil Desai, among others.
