The Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant disbursed cheques offering financial assistance to those affected in the Tiswadi taluka by the recent floods, at the Secretariat in Porvorim, today. “Disaster is not in our hands but providing help is in our hands,” said the Chief Minister adding, The Government is with you in your sorrow.”

Dr Sawant further said that the Government has provided the financial assistance in a very short span of time and said that anyone who has suffered loss and has not been given the compensation can contact the concerned authority so that relief can be provided to them. “We are also working on providing those farmers help who have suffered losses to their crops,” Dr Sawant said.  The Chief Minister urged the flood affected, especially those whose houses are damaged, to claim benefit under various schemes such as Pradhan Mandti Awaz Yojana and Atal Asra Yojana, and apply to the concerned departments to avail of the benefits.

The Minister for Revenue, Smt. Jennifer Monserrate while speaking on the occasion, thanked the Chief Minister who she said took the decision to enhance the amount of compensation to be given to the flood affected. She further thanked the people for being cooperative and enabling the authorities to complete the procedure in time.
