          A State level panel discussion on autism was held at the Goa Medical College Hospital on Thursday. The programme organised by the Directorate of Health Services, State Family Welfare Bureau, was held to create awareness about autism among the general public and to improve services in the State of Goa through discussion among various stakeholders.

          The panel members comprising Shri.Sudesh Gawde, Assistant Director, Social Welfare Department, Dr Ira, Dr Rajesh Dhume, Dr Wenona Fernandes, Dr Elyska D'Sa, Dr. Carmen Varela, occupational therapist, Pooja Varjatkar and special educator, Eunice D’Souza spoke of the diagnoses, challenges and solutions when it comes to dealing with cases of autism.

          Earlier, Dr Vandana Dhume, Chief Medical Officer, State Family Welfare Bureau in her welcome address spoke of the importance of two As- Awareness and Acceptance in dealing with autism. Dr Lalita Umbraskar compered the function.
