Vaishakh 6, 1940


                    A Megadrama (Mahanatya) ‘Shambhuraje’ based on the life and times of King Sambhaji, performed by 520 students of Shri Bhagavati High School, Pernem was inaugurated amidst the huge crowd at Farmagudi yesterday. The drama which has secured a place in the ‘Asia and India Book of World Records’ is written by Smt. Nilangi Shinde, a Pernem based writer and Directed by ace Goan stage artiste and director Shri. Jayendranath Haldankar. The drama is sponsored by Department of Art and Culture in association with West Zone Cultural Centre, Udaipur Rajasthan.

          Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly Shri. Pramod Sawant was the Chief Guest for the function. Minister for Art and Culture Shri. Govind Gaude, Headmaster of Bhagavati High School Shri. Keshav Panshikar, Trustee of the school Shri. Uttam Kotkar, School’s PTA Chairman Shri. Vinod Mether, Director of Art and Culture Shri. Pilernkar and others were present on the occasion.

          Shri. Pramod Sawant appreciated the efforts of the students and the entire team. He congratulated the Art and Culture Department for this endeavor.

          Smt. Anita D’Souza, Chief Educator of Asia Book of World Records handed the Record Certificate to the Director of Art and Culture Shri. Gurudas Pilernkar. Smt. Siddhi Upadhye compered the function while Shri. Pilernkar proposed the vote of thanks.
