The District Magistrate and Chairperson of South Goa District Crisis Group, Smt. Anjali Sehrawat have decided to have a mock drill on April 26, 2018 between 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 a.m. at Zuari Agro Chemicals, Zuarinagar.

Smt Sehrawat discussing the off-site emergency plans with various stakeholders and agencies explained that the Government machinery shall be geared to respond in a manner so as to reduce the damage to life and property and mitigating the chemical emergency. The response time of the major responders will be put to test, she said.

The District Magistrate sought to avoid inconvenience to general public and directed the traffic officials to adequately guide the commuters on alternate roads during the mock drill by placing adequate personnel/signages.

Smt. Sehrawat sought co-operation from all the stakeholders said that the drill will check the preparedness of the Crisis Group to meet any eventuality and to place SOPs in proper perspective.  It will also create awareness among the people of the locality as to what is expected of them during such situation, she asserted.

The drill is planned to check the response and capabilities of the various departments and agencies in the district to undertake emergency operations in the event of occurence of such an accident.

The District Magistrate urged the residents of Zuarinagar and the general public commuting from Dabolim Airport to Verna Junction to bear slight inconvenience owing to mock drill and appealed for co-operation of all.
