CONSTITUTION WEEK CELEBRATED IN PONDA DHARBANDORA

As a part of Constitution Week which is being celebrated throughout the state from January 19 to 25, 2019, guest lectures on ‘Constitution of India’ were held in Village Panchayat Hall, Mardol in Ponda and Village Panchayat Hall, Mollem in Dharbandora Taluka today. Asst. Professor of G.R. Kare College of Law, Margao Prof. Shruti Nadkarni who was the key note speaker, guided the students about Fundamental Rights and Duties and enlightened them about importance of Constitution of India. 

The events were jointly organised by Directorate of Panchayat, Education, Municipal

Administration and Collectorate of North and South Goa.

 

In her address, Prof.  Nadkarni briefly discussed the history of ‘Constitution making’. “To become a good citizen of our country, we must learn the Fundamental Rights and Duties of our Constitution. We also must know the Directive Principles and Constitutional Remedies,” she opined. 

 

In Mardol, the function was hosted by Office of the Block Development Officer(BDO) and Mamlatdar, Ponda. The function began by lighting traditional lamp. Asst. Director of Panchayat Smt. Florina Colaso was the Chief Guest for the function. BDO Shri Prasidha Naik welcomed the gathering. 

 

The dignitaries distributed prizes to winners of Poster making Competition held on the occasion. Mast. Ankit Devendra Naik, Shri. Tejas Shetkar and Shri. Harsh Korgaonkar won the first, second, third prize respectively. Sarpancha and Panch members of all the VPs in Ponda, school students and teachers from local schools and locals attended the function. At the end, Shri. Richard Fernandes of Goa Waste Management Corporation showed videos on garbage segregation and management. 

 

Shri. Saish Naik, Addn Collector I, Joint Mamlatdar Shri. Kaushik Desai and Smt. Janvi Kalekar and artiste Shri. Rajan Mardolkar were also present among others. 

 

In Dharbandora, the function began by lighting the traditional lamp. Dy. Collector and SDO Shri. Nilesh Dhaigodkar, Mamlatdar Shri. Abhir Hede, joint Mamlatdar Smt. Sharmila Gaonkar, BDO Shri. Uttam Pal, Sarpanch of Mollem Smt. Snehlata Naik were present on the occasion. Dy Sarpanch Shri. Sushant Bhagat welcomed the gathering. Shri. Ramnath Gaude compered the function while Shri. Pal proposed the vote of thanks. Informative videos about usage of VVPAT and EVM machines were played at the end.
