Tribal Folk Dance Festival on November 15

This year November 15 is celebrated as ‘Janajatiya Gaurav Diwas’, dedicated to the memory of brave tribal freedom fighters. This day also marks the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda who is revered as Bhagwan by tribal communities across the country. Birsa Munda was an iconic freedom fighter, social reformer, and revered tribal leader of the country, who fought bravely against the exploitative system of the British colonial government. To mark ‘Janajatiya Gaurav Diwas’ the Directorate of Art and Culture in collaboration with Tribal Research Centre, Goa (Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India) will be organising “Tribal Folk Dance Festival-2022”, wherein various tribal folk dances will be presented.

Minister for Art and Culture, Shri. Govind Gaude will inaugurate the tribal dance festival on November 15 at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao at

3.30 pm. The tribal folk dances to be performed in this festival are Jaagor, Ranmale, Fugdi, Kunbi, Kalshi Fugdi, Toniya Mel, Talgadi and Goff.

Folk dance lovers, artists and the general public are invited to come and witness this festival. Entry is free.
