INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATED AT PONDA

Goa joined the rest of the country in celebrating 75 years of India’s independence today. To mark the celebration various functions and programs were held in the State today. At the historical Kranthi Maidan, Ponda today Minister for Agriculture Shri. Ravi Naik unfurled the National tricolour, and inspected the Guard of Honour from police contingents.

Addressing the gathering Shri. Naik said post Independence, our country has witnessed tremendous development in varied sectors coupled with greater transparency and unprecedented development. He lauded the contribution of Armed forces’ and saluted their indomitable courage in serving the Nation.

Speaking further he said “on this auspicious day we should remember the great deeds of our freedom fighters and martyrs for their supreme sacrifices to attain freedom for our country. Independence was achieved due to the tireless efforts and valor of our freedom fighters and as such we should guard and protect our motherland India. In India, we can see the unity in diversity although there are assimilation of different people in the country, which we can boast ”, he added.

Shri Naik felicitated the family members and next kin of freedom fighters of Ponda Taluka on the occasion.
