INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS ON AUG 15

FF to be felicitated posthumously

Independence Day will be celebrated on Monday, August 15, 2022. The State Level Celebrations will be held in front of Old Secretariat, Panaji, Goa at 09.15 a.m. on Monday, August 15, 2022 wherein the Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant will address the people.

The Flag hoisting ceremony on Independence Day will also be held at various at various Taluka Headquarters at 09.15 a.m. and would be performed by Shri Rohan Khaunte, Minister for Tourism, at Mapusa; Shri Premendra Shet, MLA, Mayem Constituency at Bicholim; Shri Ravi Naik, Minister for Agriculture at Ponda; Shri Subhash Shirodkar, Minister for Water Resources at Canacona; Shri Mauvin Godinho, Minister for Transport at Vasco; Shri Nilesh Cabral, Minister for Legislative Affairs at Margao; Shri Pravin Arlekar, MLA, Pernem Constituency, Pernem; Smt. Deviya Rane, MLA, at Valpoi; Shri Govind Gaude, Minister for Sports at Quepem; Shri Ganesh Gaonkar, MLA, Sanvordem at Dharbandora and Shri Subhash Phal Dessai, Minister for Social Welfare at Sanguem.

Hon. Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant alongwith Freedom Fighters and other dignitaries would lay wreaths at the Martyrs Memorial, Patradevi, Pernem.

All the Departments will be organizing events of Independence Day celebrations from August 13, 2022 to August 15, 2022 in line with ‘Aazadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’. These programmes will be organized in each taluka with wider participation it will be include events like run/walk, sports events, treks, street plays, cultural singing events with patriotic fervour, essay competitions in schools and colleges, elocution competition, cycle rallies, tree plantation, sanitization drives etc where people from all walks of life and all age-groups are encouraged to participate.

The Government will also felicitate the Martyrs of the Goa Freedom Struggle posthumously on the occasion. The Freedom fighters of Tiswadi Taluka will be felicitated at the State level function while the other freedom fighters will be felicitated at the respective taluka level function. The Department of Information and Publicity would also bring out a booklet of all the Martyrs on the occasion.

The Nation will be celebrating Har Ghar Tiranga – one nation, one emotion, one identity from August 13 to 15, 2022 wherein people are urged to hoist flags at their homes/institutes/business enterprise etc. Flags are made available at various locations in every town/village.
