GOVERNMENT COMMITTED TO BOOST START-UPs- CM

Government is committed to provide a conducive ecosystem to boost Start-ups in the State, said Chief Minister Dr.Pramod Sawant today. He was speaking at a function organized by the Department of Information and Technology and Tourism for launching of Goa Beach Vigil App, Distribution of certificates to registered Startups and incentives to Start –ups at Secretariat Porvorim.

The Chief Minister stated that, Start-ups have a greater role to play in increasing the economy of the State and called upon all the stakeholders to collectively promote Start-ups with full zeal.

CM informed that the Government is encouraging youngsters to go for Start-ups there by generating employment on a large scale. In order to encourage students to learn engineering, the Government has reduced the fees of engineering courses. This initiative will help to have more numbers of technocrats in the State, he added.

Dr.Sawant launched the Goa Beach Vigil App and appreciated efforts of Goa Electronic Limited (GEL) for building a comprehensive app for clean and safe tourism.

Minister for IT and Tourism Shri.Rohan Khaunte in his address informed that, Government is very much serious to provide better facilities for new start-ups as well new industries in the State. Government will follow best practices that prevail in other States to promote Starts-ups and improve the ecosystem in Goa for new start-ups and other investments. Startups have become a new mode of revenue and employment generation, he added.

On the occasion incentives under Start up policy were disbursed to few Start ups and certificates for registered Startups were also distributed.

Department of Tourism has launched Beach Vigil Mobile App to report, respond and resolve any offences reported at beaches across Goa. At initial phase, the App will be rolled out to the Department of Tourism, Goa Police, Dristi, Shack owners and in the next phase it will be available to citizens to download and report offences.

Director of Tourism Shri. Nikhil Dessai, IAS, MD, Info Tech Corporation of Goa Shri. Vivek H.P, IAS also spoke on the occasion. Chairman, GTDC Dr.Ganesh Gaonkar, Chief Secretary Shri.Puneet Kumar Goel IAS, Secretary Tourism Shri.Ravi Dhawan, IAS, Director, Information and Technology Shri.Praveen Volvotkar was present on the occasion.
