GOA`S HARMONY AND TOLERANCE IS UNBEATABLE –GOVERNOR

Goa is a very peaceful and harmonious state, thus other parts of the country should look into various aspects of Goa and its generous approach towards diverse culture and religion making the State most peaceful and tolerant, expressed the Governor of Goa, Shri. P.S.Sreedharan Pillai today. He was speaking at a function organized on the occasion of 35th Goa Statehood Day by the Department of Information & Publicity at Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula.

Governor, Shri. Pillai wholeheartedly appreciated the culture of unity and integrity prevails among the political parties in Goa and the bond of oneness the political fraternity shares among themselves irrespective of their party and its ideology.

The Governor expressed his satisfaction on the development and progress achieved till now by the State Government in the field of education, infrastructure, industries, health etc. Goa has immense potential in rural tourism wherein it can explore spiritual tourism, village tourism and health tourism which would generate employment and boost the economy of the State.

Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant in his address announced that 15th July will be observed to pay tributes towards the Cuncolim revolt against Portuguese rule. On this day a special homage will be paid to the martyrs by visiting the National Warfare Memorial at New Delhi, informed the Chief Minister. Goa has witnessed a long and tough journey to achieve laurels for the State in every sector. During the period of 35 years of Statehood various Governments have contributed towards the growth of the State, he said and appreciated all the former Chief Ministers for their contribution in shaping the State towards growth and progress.

Dr. Sawant further stated that, Government will further strengthen human resources and upgrade skill development so as to make Goa self sustainable in its true sense. CM also mentioned that special efforts will be made for the development of Konkani language.

Union Minister of State for Tourism Shri. Shripad Naik appreciated Government efforts towards strengthening the State.

Minister for Panchayat Shri. Mauvin Godinho gave welcome remarks.

On the occasion all the former Chief Ministers of the State were felicitated by the Government for their immense contribution towards development of the State. Former Chief Minister Shri. Pratap Singh Rane, Shri.Ravi Naik, Shri. Luizinho Faleiro Shri. Digamber Kamat and Shri. Laxmikant Parsekar received the felicitation. Besides Industrial Groups Such as Fomento Group, Dempo Group of Industries, Salgaonkars & Brothers, Chowgule & companies, NRB Group, D.B.Bandodkar & Sons Pvt ltd, Vedanta, MRF, Rotary Club of Goa, Cipla Ltd and other prominent educational institutions and Government Institutions were felicitated for its contribution in the development of the State.

Six Swayampurna Mitras were felicitated for their tremendous efforts made in delivering the Government’s schemes and projects to the rural population.

Speaker, Goa Legislative Assembly, Shri.Ramesh Tawadkar, Minister for Fisheries Shri.Nilkant Halarnkar, Minister for Tourism Shri. Rohan Khaunte, Minister for WRD Shri. Subhash Shirodkar, Minister for Power Shri.Sudin Dhavlikar, Minister Social Welfare Shri. Subhash Phaldessai was present on the occasion.
