GOVERNMENT IS COMMITTED FOR DEVELOPMENT OF DEPRIVED SECTION: CM

Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant today reiterated that the Government is fully committed to development of the deprived section of the society thereby providing all the basic facilities and education on priority. He was speaking on the occasion of the 131st Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar celebration organized by the Directorate of Social Welfare held at Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar Garden, Panaji.

Chief Minister Dr. Sawant further stated that the Government is dedicated to the principle of `Antodaya` (reach out to the last one) ensuring all assistance to the people in their social development.

Chief Minister Dr. Sawant announced that the Government will extend support and assistance to build `Ambedkar Bhavan` in the State. The contribution of Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar towards Nation building and social upliftment is incredible. We all need to implement and follow the social values and ideas of Dr. Ambedkar, he added.

Union Minister of State for Tourism Shri. Shripad Naik in his address stated that the huge achievements and contribution of Dr. Ambedkar towards Nation will be always cherished and show the path to the new generation for making a better and harmonious society.

Minister for Social Welfare Shri. Subhash Faldesai assured that the Social Welfare Department will work hard to extend all the support and assistance to the deprived sections of the society through its various welfare schemes.

Keynote speaker Shri. Girish More from Pune highlighting the works of Dr.Ambedkar said his work is not limited upto the upliftment of dalits in the society but he made huge contribution at national and international front by propagating major policies in the field of Education, Economics, Agriculture, Foreign Affairs etc.

Shri. Chandrakant Halarnkar, Shri. Laxman Gaonkar, Shri. Narayan Khorjuvenkar, Shri. Nrusinha Parwar, Shri. Dilip Pednekar were felicitated with `Dr.Ambedkar Samajik Puraskar` for their contribution towards social service.

The Programme was organised in association with Goa State Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes Finance Development Corporation Ltd.

Secretary for Social Welfare Shri. Arun Kumar Mishra, IAS welcomed the gathering. MLA , Pernem Shri. Pravin Arlekar, Collector North Goa Smt. Mamu Hage, IAS, Director, Social Welfare Shri. Siddhivinayak Naik were
among those who were present on the occasion.
