Commitment and Enthusiasm is Seen in Villages: Governor

Governor, Shri P.S. Sreedharan Pillai along with spouse Smt. Reetha Sreeedharan Pillai visited Canacona taluka as part of “Sampurna Goa Yatra” today. Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly Shri Ramesh Tawadkar accompanied Governor during his day long visit.

Governor disbursed financial assistance of Rs. 25000/- each to the 15 Dialysis patients of Canacona taluka at a function organised at village Panchayat Shristhal, Canacona.

Governor said that the real life of people is seen in village. One can see hard work, commitment to the Society and enthusiasm in villages he said and added as Mahatma Gandhiji said self reliance villages will make India fully developed Country. Cities are developing that is good but along with cities villages should also be developed. People are supreme in democracy and I am very happy to fulfill the duty of serving the people of Goa.

We are trying to make Raj Bhavan people-oriented. Goa is a beautiful gift on earth and the temples, churches and mosques in this State are also a gift of fine architecture and cultural tradition. Whenever I visit temples and churches – unity and diversity is displayed by everyone. People from different religions maintain good relations in Goa, the Governor pointed.

During his day long visit to Cancona the Governor also interacted with Sarpanch and members of village Panchayats of Shristhal, Cola, Agonda, Poinguinim, Gaodongrem, Cotigao and Loliem. Smt. Purna Naik , Sarpanch Cola raised the issue about internet connectivity. Forest right cases, development of Shree Mallikarjun temple and support price for Cashew, Setting up of non polluting industry to resolve unemployment problem, underground cabling for electricity and restoration of octroi among other issues were raised by Sarpanchas and members before Governor.

Governor assured the local elected representatives full assistance in their future endeavours after the sarpanchas presented a brief report of the development activities in their areas.

Earlier Governor of Goa, Shri P.S. Sreedharan Pillai and First Lady of Goa, Adv.(Smt.) Rita Sreedharan visited Shree Mallikarjun Temple at Shristhal and invoked blessings of the deity.

The Governor was received by Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly, Shri Ramesh Tawadkar and President of Shree Mallikarjun Temple, Shri Rajendra Desai, Shri Vithoba Desai. Shri Rajendra Desai briefed the Governor and other dignitaries about the history of the temple.

Mementos were also presented to the Governor by President of Shree Mangesh Temple Shri Rajendra Desai.

Later in the evening the Governor Shri P.S. Sreedharan Pillai and First Lady of Goa, Adv. Smt. Rita Sreedharan Pillai visited Shree Parshuram Temple at Poinguinim and offered prayers to the deity.
