Validity of Documents for Vehicles Extended

Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has further extended the validity of documents related to Vehicles Act, 1988 and Central, Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 to consider relaxation in permit fees/taxes etc.

The Ministry taking into consideration the grim situation due to prevailing conditions for prevention of spread of COVID-19 across the Country has decided that the validity of fitness, permit (all types), driving license, registration or any other documents whose extension of validity could not be, or was not likely to be, granted due to lock down and/or COVID-19 and which had expired since February 01, 2020 or would expiry by both June 30, 2021 be treated to be valid till June 30, 2021. Enforcement authorities are advised to treat such documents valid till June 30, 2021. This will help out Citizens in availing transport related services.

All the States and Union Territories are requested to implement this advisory in letter and spirit so that the citizens, the transporters and various other organizations which are operating under these difficult times, may not get harassed and face difficulties.
