Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti Celebration at Farmagudi On Feb. 19

Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant will lead the people of the State in paying tributes to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the legendary Maratha Warrior at the State level function to be held at Farmagudi-Ponda on February 19, 2021.

The function will be organized by the Department of Information and Publicity in association with Village Panchayat of Bandora and Zilla Parishad, Kavlem.

Apart from the Chief Minister, the function will be attended by Minister for Art and Culture, Shri Govind Gaude, Shri Ramkrishna Dhawalikar, Shri Ravi Naik, Shri Subhash Shirodkar, all MLA’s Shri Sanjay Kumar, IAS, Secretary (Information and Publicity) besides Sarpanch of Bandora, Shri Rajesh Naik Chairperson of Ponda Municipal Council, Zilla Panchayat Member, Shri Ganapat Naik, Kavlem and other dignitaries.

The function will commence by offering of floral tributes to the statue of Chhtrapati Shivaji Maharaj by the Chief Minister and other dignitaries at 8.45 a.m. This will be followed by welcome song by children of Bal Bhavan and presentation of Powada at the fort premise. Thereafter the dignitaries will assemble at the precincts of Shree Ganapati Devasthan where the main function will be held.

The highlight of the celebration will be the key note address to be delivered by a historian on the life and work of Shivaji Maharaj.

To mark the day long celebration there will be All Goa Inter-Collegiate Quiz on “Life and Times of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj” (1627 to 1680) with stress on Shivaji’s Fort and all Goa Theatrical entry (Natya Pravesh) Competition for the students of High School and Higher Secondary on the life and work of Shivaji Maharaj from 9.00 a.m. onwards at the venue of the function. The winners of the aforesaid competitions will be awarded a Cash Prize of Rs. 10,000/-, Rs 7,000/- and Rs. 5,000/- as first, second and third prize respectively besides certificates to those educational institutions participating the contest.

A historical drama on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will be staged at Farmagudi on February 19 in the evening. In addition to this historical drama’s will also be staged at taluka level to mark the celebration and make the anuual event a grand success, as informed by Department of Information and Publicity.
