  DO AWAY WITH ADULTERATED FOOD — CHIEF SECRETARY

Chief Secretary of the State Shri Dharmendra Sharma  flagged off Swasth Bharat Yatra, a cyclothon  ( Pan India bicycle tour )   organized by the Food and Safety Standard Authority of India in collaboration with  Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India to mark the  commemoration of 150th birth anniversary of father of the nation  Mahatma Gandhi.

 

 The cyclotron has been commenced from six centers throughout the country. Goa is one of the center and the cyclotron began from Campal early in the morning with the participation of 35 cyclists. They will travel a distance of 60 kmts. from Panaji to Banda Maharashtra   and thereafter   handover  baton to next contingents at Banda. During their journey the cyclists will spread the message of eat right and be healthy the 'Eat Right Mobile Unit' and 'Mobile Food Testing Unit' would travel across the country over 100+ days to engage citizens on issues of food safety, combating food adulteration and healthy diets.

 

The Chief Secretary speaking on the occasion called upon the people to do away with adulterated food and further mentioned that consumption of adulterated food is dangerous to health.
