The South Goa District Committee under  Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan conducted training a programme for  master volunteers to  impart training on community drug demand reduction at Mathany Saldanha Administrative Complex, Margao,  yesterday.


          The one day training program was inaugurated by the Additional Collector I (South Goa) Shri. Surendra Naik  in the presence of Deputy collector Snehal Prabhu, Shri. Gurudas Kadam, Police Inspector of Dabolim Airport and Dr. Ravin Rego, Medical Officer at Hospicio.


The objective of the training was to train and sensitize the volunteers about the drug demand reduction. The training program had 35 master volunteers. The training programme consisted of sessions on addiction as a disease, prevalence of drug use and its effects that were conducted throughout the day.


The speakers for the training included Shri. Gurudas Kadam, Police Inspector of Dabolim Airport spoke about the Prevalence of Drug Use in Goa and its effect on Youth.


Dr. Ravin Rego, Medical Officer at Hospicio spoke about Addiction as a disease and its effect on Youth.


Two speakers from Kripa foundation, Maharashtra Shri. Sameer Patil, Senior Counsellor at Kripa foundation and SLCA officer of Maharashtra and Goa and Shri. Amit Patel, the Project Director of VRACS imparted training to the master trainers. There was a panel discussion to answer the doubts and queries raised by the volunteers. 


A task was also given to the master volunteers to test them on the knowledge acquired. The master volunteers   will have to submit a detailed report to the District Committee on the activities conducted by them and will get a certificate on completion.


The program ended with distribution of certificates at the hands of Smt. Snehal Prabhu, as informed by Department of Information and Publicity.
