“Accounts Department is the heart of the Government,” asserted Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant, and “therefore needs to keep pace with new technology to handle the technological advancements like digitalization, ecommerce etc,” he added. 

Dr Sawant was speaking after laying the foundation stone for ‘Lekha Bhavan’, the Administrative Complex for Directorate of Accounts at Porvorim today.

He said the Directorate is presently functioning from a building of 195 years, which is congested and not conducive for functioning at ease, making it the need of the hour for new premises added that he was happy for laying the foundation stone for new building on the auspicious occasion of  Republic Day.

      Speaking further, the Chief Minister added that new projects lead to lay strain on infrastructure and said that care would be taken to overcome these problems.  He assured the local MLA that the problem of water, power, and sewerage will be taken care of and Porvokars will not suffer.

          “Government aims to be self reliant in terms of fulfilling basic needs of people in the days to come in response to the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Atmanirbhar Bharat,” he reiterated.

       MLA and he Vice chairman of GSIDC, Shri Joshua Peter De Souza while addressing said that this ambitious project would be completed within the stipulated time period to make the Accounts Department functional in a conducive atmosphere.

MLA Shri Rohan Khaunte also spoke on the occasion. ZP  North Goa President, Shri Kartik Kudanekar,  ZP Member  Smt Kavita Naik; Sarpanch Shri  Swapnil Chodankar; Chief Secretary, Shri Parimal Rai IAS; Principal Secretary, Finance, Shri Puneet Goel IAS;  Managing Director, GSIDC, Shri Harish Adconkar,  Staff and ex-Directors of Accounts Department were among those who attended the function.

The proposed building is a four storied building (G+3) R.C.C framed structure with Basement. The total Built-up area is 10,670.00 sq.m. and will house various Administrative departments.

The project will have a Training hall for 340 pax, Canteen, Bank, ATM and basement parking for 73 nos Car & 45 nos. two wheeler parking. The building is divided into three sections & two service core connected by a central corridor & lobby. The Canteen  & ATM are provided in the ground level, while the training hall is located at upper most level. A modular approach has been adopted for planning within the Departments, mainly driven by the flow of interaction required between the main officers & assisting officers.

        The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 38.75 crore with a completion period of 18 months. The consultant for the project is M/s. UCJ architecture and environment while the contractor is M/s.Decor Home (India) Pvt.Ltd

Director of  Accounts Shri Dilip Humraskar welcomed the gathering. Accounts Officer Smt. Dipti Wagle  compered the function while Deputy Director Accounts  Shri Ulhas Naik, proposed the vote of thanks.
