      Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant in the presence of Shri Siddhartha Swarup, State Level Coordinator (SLC) for Oil Industry in Goa and officers from Oil Industry digitally inaugurated, a one month long fuel conservation campaign of Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA), Saksham 2021 organised under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, on 16th January 2021 with the theme "Green and Clean Energy".

    Launching the campaign online, the Chief Minister said that India is one of the major energy hubs and is striving positively towards achievement of 5 trillion-dollar economy mark. Praising the initiatives taken up by Government of India to make an Atmanirbhar Bharat as envisioned, the Chief Minister, Dr Sawant mentioned that there is considerable growth in citizens’ access to affordable clean and green energy. This shall further enhance energy efficiency and pave way for a sustainable and self-reliant energy sector in India. PM Ujjwala Yojana, CNG network expansion, setting up Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants with CBG dispensing stations, Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations, biofuel market development were a few initiatives highlighted by Dr Sawant.

     Quoting the developments taking place in Goa regarding fuel conservation, he elaborated upon the expansion of CNG, Piped Natural Gas (PNG), EV Charging Stations, solar power installations etc and complimented the oil companies for their efforts in contributing towards a greener eco system.


      The Chief Minister stressed upon the importance of programs like SAKSHAM wherein public are involved in various activities conducted by PCRA and Oil Industry in next one-month upto 15th February 2021.


      The Chief Minister appealed to the people of Goa for participating with full zeal and passion in this awareness drive in large number so that sustainable methods can be adopted by people in their day to day energy consumption, ultimately contributing towards a cleaner, greener and Atmaribhar Bharat.

    This Sanrakshan Kshmata Mahotsava (SAKSHAM)is a flagship program of PCRA and oil public sector undertakings under the guidance of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. The initiative aims to spread awareness about conservation of energy for efficient use and sustainable future, thereby adding values to the various efforts being made in the country for saving fuel and exploring alternate, affordable, cleaner energy sources.
     On this occasion, Managing Director, Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) Goa was presented Rs. 50,000/- cash award and trophy for year Oct.’2019 to Sep.’2020 to Vasco Depot being the best depot for achieving higher kilometre per litre (KMPL) as per scheme announced by PCRA.

     Earlier, in his welcome address, Sh. Swarup, SLC Oil Industry, highlighted the importance of SAKSHAM-2021 and activities which shall take place during the entire month up to 15th February 2021.
