Panaji, December 15, 2020

   Agrahayana 24, 1942

The Electricity Department has appealed to all the consumers / public within the State of Goa to refrain from throwing / dumping garbage or foreign materials at least within 2 meters radius from the Department’s Distribution Transformer Centers (DTC) and RMU’s feeder pillars installed for underground cabling.

The Department has further informed that  the presence of such materials cause inconvenience to the Line Staff of the Department to attend fuse calls and undertake the regular maintenance activities apart from leading to hazardous circumstances like ignition of a fire hazard leading to destruction of Department property thereby, causing interruption in the power supply to the concerned areas which require replacement of burnt or damaged equipments in the process.

There are also instances where, miscreants dump garbage even in the DTC’s and RMU’s premises having enclosures. DTC’s mostly in isolated areas, along   the road sides and market areas are most affected.

The  DTCs and RMUs are installed at location for the control and switching power supply and hence, clear access to these structures are a must for efficiently providing services to the consumers/ public at all time, the Electricity Department said, as informed by Department of Information and Publicity.
