AGRICULTURAL PROSPECTS FOR OCTOBER

 The Directorate of Agriculture has conducted activities in the month of October 2020 such as Paddy crop harvesting is in full swing with extensive use of Paddy harvesting combine. Paddy harvesting has commenced from September 29, onwards and as on date 89 Paddy Combine harvesters were deployed.

 It is informed that, crop prospect for the season is very good. Late rains received during beginning of October are likely to have positive impact on coconut, mixed plantation and sugarcane crop.

National Conference on Agriculture for Rabi Campaign 2020 was held on September 21, 2020 through Video Conference. Dy. Director of Agriculture (Crops& PP) attended the Conference.

Two days Skill Development Training in Land Preparation for Tractor  Drivers & Mechanics of Agriculture Department was conducted by State Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute (SAMETI-GOA) on September 17 and  18 , 2020 at Farmers Training Centre, Ela – Old, Goa, wherein 53 participants participated.

Directorate has also informed that it organized webinar on vegetable cultivation and adoption of multilayer agriculture practices to enhance agro productivity and production with the help of Vegetable expert on September 28, 2020  which was attended by 440 farmers and extension field functionaries.

Conducted webinar on Mahila Kisan Divas on October 15,2020  on the topic Safe handling of Agricultural produce, Value addition and processing by Self Help Group and Schemes of the Department of Agriculture, wherein 63 women farmers participated in the webinar.

            Six kg vegetable seeds produced on Departmental farm for sale to farmers.

           1133.78 kg vegetable seeds purchased from Goa State Horticultural Corporation Ltd. (GSHCL) for sale to the farmer under 50% subsidy Scheme.

          Issued administrative approval for 3 farmers for commercial cultivation of Mango covering 5 ha.

       350 fruit plants and spices supplied to all the constituencies under “Distribution of Fruits plants for homestead garden” during 2020-21.

     Farm sale of planting material was 13,534 nos and amount realized was Rs. 246181 lakhs during 2020-21

      Total 525 Soil Health Cards are issued.

       Cluster Training Programme under Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) was conducted in 367 Cluster, wherein 367 Nos. of Lead Resource Person (LRP) and 27 field functionaries participated.

      Organized training Programme for Youths on Skill Development in Operation and Maintenance of Paddy Combine Harvester wherein 10 trained operators participated from September 21, 2020  to September 25, 2020 at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Margao-Goa and 14 trained operators participated from October 05,2020 to October 09, 2020  at Farmers Training Centre, Ela-Old-Goa, as informed by the  Department of Information and Publicity.
