GOA POLICE ORGANISES MARATHON TO OBSERVE INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE

          Anti Narcoti Cell of Goa Police, in observance of June 26, 2018 as International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking had organized 10 kms Marathon Rally in male and female category. Marathon conducted from Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium to ferry point Panaji via NIO circle and Miramar circle had very good response as more than 600 individuals participated including Army Jawans, Goa Police staff, members of various organization and civilians.

 

          The Marathon / Rally was flagged off at 7.15 am by the Chief Secretary of Goa, Shri Dharmendra Sharma, IAS in the presence of IGP Shri Jaspal Singh, IPS, Brigadier Sharmar, Commanding officer and Col. Arun Shejwal, Dy. Commanding officer 2STC Panaji and Senior officers of Goa Police.

 

          At ferry point Panaji, the participants of Marathon / Rally finished the race in presence of IGP, Senior Police Officer and huge crowd with big applause for their participation and awareness amongst general public to Say No To Drugs.

 

          In the male category Shri. Amit Ramesh Patil, Gadinglaj Kolhapur, Shri. Teddy D. Cardozo, Curca Bambolim, Shri Pradyuman G. Naik, Thivim Mapusa Goa were the winners of 1st, 2nd and 3rd place respectively with cash prize and Trophies.

 

 

           Whereas in the female category Smt. Danita D`niz, RCC, Fatorda, Smt.Shiphali Naik, DMC College, Mapusa, Smt. Kavita Rathod, Peddem, Mapusa.were the winners of 1st, 2nd and 3rd place respectively with cash prize and trophies.

 

 

          On observing that there was a tough competition among the participants of male and female category IGP Shri Jaspal Singh, IPS on the spot decided to give away 3 consolation prizes in each category. Shri G. Yogvendra Babu, 2 STC, Panaji,  Shri Salman Imran A. Khan, Dikarpalli, Navelim, Shri Aakash Surya Bali Saroj, Sheldem, Quepem. And Smt. Jyoti Suresh Maitre, DMC College, Mapusa, Smt. Mevyia Ravi Rebello, Gogal, Margao, Smt. Vaishali  Jude Thomas, Fatorda, Margao won consolation prizes.

 

          

          The Marathon / Rally with clear message Say No to Drugs ended peacefully with great applause to participants and compliments to Goa Police for nicely organizing the event. IGP Goa thanks all Police Personnel for a great success of Marathon / Rally as a part of awareness against Drug Abuse and illicit Trafficking.
