Goa Forest Department celebrated Wildlife Week-2020 in the first week of October with the participation of people and other stakeholders. In this series, a Beach Cleaning Drive event was organized at Morjim beach yesterday in association with Morjim Sea Turtle Trust.

The main aim of the drive was to create awareness about the hazards posed by dumping of garbage and micro plastics to marine and coastal life particularly the marine turtles.

The clean-up drive covered entire beach stretch and considerable quantity of plastic wastes single -use plastics was collected. All trashes collected from the beach will be handed over to Saligao Garbage Treatment Plant by Range Forest Officer, Wildlife Range Campal.

Nature Lovers, Students, Villagers, Volunteers from Morjim Sea Turtle Trust and Drishti and staff of Forest Department participated in the event.

Shri Saurabh Kumar, IFS, Conservator of Forest(Wildlife),Smt Vaishali Shetgaonkar, Sarpanch Village Panchayat, Shri Amit Shetgaonkar Dy. Sarpanch, Shri Tushar Shetgaonkar, and other Panch Members were present on this occasion for the cause.

On this occasion Forest Department stressed upon to the citizens to dispose of the plastic wastes in a proper way, as a step towards Wildlife Conservation.
