Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant today assured the villagers of Melavali in Sattari taluka that the Government will endeavour to resolve the issues pertaining to the proposed IIT project at Melavali,  a remote area in Sattari.

 Chief Minister, Dr. Sawant alongwith Health Minister Shri. Vishwajeet Rane held a meeting with the villagers of Melavali in the city today. He said that Government will compensate to the villagers by providing alternate land if the villagers have necessary land documents in their possession. 

During the meeting Chief Minister, Dr. Sawant gave patient hearing to villagers about various issues and objections which they have for IIT Goa project. Chief Minister specifically mentioned that no claims of villagers will go unheard if people are in a position to produce legal documents towards the Government land which is allocated for IIT Goa project. He appealed to the villagers to put forth their claims to concern Government Departments to get them redressed in prescribed Government procedure.

Chief Minister disclosed that the proposed IIT project will generate lot of direct and indirect employment for the locals. The project will also boost physical development of the village. Hence people should not oppose and make hue and cry over the IIT project at Melavali,  he added.

In the meeting villagers were informed about various aspects of IIT Project at Melavali and its impact on the local community. Director, IIT Goa Shri. B.K.Mishra and Professor Smt. Neha Karanjkar made detailed presentation on the project.

North Goa Collector Smt. R. Menaka (IAS) and other officers of Revenue Department were present for the meeting.
